SELF CONFICENCE SERIES IV
SELF CONFICENCE SERIES IV
Believe in yourself !
You can achieve anything !!
In the last three blogs, we had discussed the necessity of one having self confidence to achieve everything in life. People fear
Ø to meet a new person (higher authority),
Ø to address a meeting,
Ø to take up the issues to higher ups,
due to lack of self confidence. Self confidence allows you to achieve the real goals in your life whether they are to do with work, relationships or just being comfortable with yourself.
Myths of self confidence
1. When we come across successful people, we feel that one has to be borne with silver spoon. This is myth number one. In fact, self confidence can be learned like learning any other game.
2. Some people may feel that once their confidence level goes down, it will be very difficult to build it again. This is the next myth. For any reason, if people lose self confidence, in one issue or issues, they will strike back with greater effort next time. Then at that time, it will be harder to lose it again.
We need other people, to succeed in our lives. At every stage, we need others’ cooperation. Without self confidence, we will miss out the joy that good relationships bring
To gain self confidence, the following exercises will help.
Exercise 1
Write down, what you mean by self confidence ? Start your replies with “I want to be able to..." or "I want to be”. Be clear where you are going/leading.
Define the situations, under which, you need more self confidence ?
Which areas you are good enough and which areas you feel you’re weak..
Write down one thing, which you feel due to lack of self confidence, you didn’t do in the past and that you can do it now better if you have self confidence.
Analyse your answers. You will probably come to an idea of about your self confidence.
Exercise 2
Answer the following questions.
I am a confident person I don’t doubt my ability to do a job I know my strengths and weaknesses I don’t have difficulty in saying “No” I don’t often think that I am not as good as others I don’t worry what others may think of me I don’t expect myself to be perfect all the time It’s not important for me to want to be liked and approved of I smile a lot I am a positive person
If your answer is YES give each one point. Add up the points. Check your confidence levels
Exercise 3
Write down your strengths
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
Write down your weakness or the areas you want to attend to:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
This will make you understand yourself better. Always we analyse about others’ weaknesses, but fail to understand what is the stock we have. Once you know about yourselves, then you can start working towards that. A self appraisal is always required. Most probably, we will do such appraisal only during some personality development training programmes. Not on our own.
Exercise 4:
Write down your failures or setbacks in the recent past.
1.
2.
3.
Now reframe them. List out what you have learnt from them.
Exercise 5 :
Use these self affirmations often. Best method is standing before a mirror and telling yourself by seeing your eyes with emotions.
I am a confident person
I am an achiever
I am powerful
I am powerful
I know my strengths and weaknesses
I can easily say ‘No’ when I really mean it
I am good as like others
I need not expect perfectionism at all times
I am a positive person
Exercise 6
Programme your mind for self confidence:
Sit in a comfortable position. Relax yourselves. Relax your muscles. Have deep breaths. Now concentrate on your breathing Stay in that position for atleast five minutes. .. Then start slowly visualizing the following:
As if you are a confident person, you are meeting a high official and introducing yourselves as a Very Confident Person. Notice what type of dresses you will be wearing, what type of body language you will be exhibiting.
Then visualize as if you are a very rich person. How will you introduce yourselves to others.
Then visualize yourself what you want in your real life and feel as if you have achieved it. How will you move with the people after achieving those goals. Visualize.
Exercise 7
Use power words:
Avoid negative talks. Talk always confidently. Use power words like
SUCCESS
ACHIEVEMENT
CONFIDENCE
POWER
HAPPINERSS
INTEGRITY
LOVE
Use these words as often as you can, in you day to day life. Avoid negative talking persons and such situations.
Remember, we can achieve a lot. The world is full of opportunities. It is upto us to grab the opportunities and succeed in our lives.
