POWER OF POSITIVE SELF TALK

POWER OF POSITIVE SELF TALK
By A.Shanmugasundaram

Just sit in your room calmly and watch your inner dialogue. Are you happy about it ?
Can you list down little later about these inner dialogues. I am sure as much as 95 percent of your inner dialogue tends to be about the things you fear, your worries, the people you're angry at, your problems, your concerns and so on. You have to consciously keep your words, your inner dialogue, consistent with what you wish to accomplish.
Successful people have a continuous inner dialogue that is positive and constructive. These dialogues are directed towards their goals and objectives.
Say ‘I CAN DO IT’
Psychologists world over have proved that positive inner dialogue have a direct impact on your actions and your achievements. If you have fear about something, then this fear will make you to hold you back from trying. Think something positive and tell yourself ‘I HAVE THE POWER TO DO IT ! I CAN JUST DO IT !! I HAVE THE ABILITY AND CAPACITY TO DO SO.’
When you tell this to yourselves many times, see and feel the difference in you. You will suddenly feel like getting the power to face anything and will start doing the thing, which you were fearing all along.
MIND YOUR MIND
On an average, we get 40,000 thoughts per day. Most of them are negative. Hence, our mind is infected with the negative ones. Another thing is, we don’t care to feed our mind with proper positive thoughts. What will happen, if you don’t care about your garden for some time. Only bushes will come up. In the same way, if you don’t care about your mind, negative thoughts of others will occupy your mind and you have to pay the price for it. .
FEED YOUR MIND:
Feed your mind with only positive thoughts. Since your mind can hold only one thought at a time, either positive or negative, if you deliberately choose the positive thought to dwell upon, you keep your mind optimistic and your emotions positive. Since your thoughts and feelings determine your actions, if you keep your words and thoughts positive, you will automatically be a more positive person and move more rapidly towards your goals

WRITE DOWN THE AFFIRMATIONS :
Affirmations are positive statements. Take for example, the affirmations for students can be:
I like studying
My memory power is improving daily.
I score centum marks in maths.
I am an achiever
Anybody can prepare a list of affirmations. One should tell and practice these affirmations daily. Repeating the affirmations aloud further installs the beliefs into your subconscious mind. It is very important to repeatedly both write and audibly state your affirmations for maximum effectiveness When you practice positive affirmations, you also attract positive energy towards you. When positive energy is surrounding you, you will be more energetic, feel less stressed and tuned for success.

CHANGE NEGATIVE INTO POSTIVE ONES:

Negative self-talk Choose this constructive or positive self-talk:
Why does this always happen to me? How can I make it so this no longer happens?
You're so stupid! You've got a few things still to learn to become better.
I can't do it! I am able to accomplish anything through persistence.
You're lying to yourself if you think you can do that! Other people have learned how to accomplish this, and you can, too!
You're just not measuring up! You've still got a lot of potential!
What a disaster! What can I learn from this?
Look at that guy -- he knows so much! I'll never catch up! What can I learn from that guy? What does he know that I don't know?
She's so beautiful -- and I'm not! How can I make myself more attractive?
Why can't I be lucky like her? How can I prepare myself to become more "lucky?"
What are the ways we can improve the positive self talk ?

Exercise 1
Take out a paper. Write some positive thoughts about you. All the sentences should start with “I am…..” You may find it difficult to write even five or six sentences. No problem, just go ahead, take some more time, think and write as many sentences. Let the mind work in a positive way. You will find out how many sentences you can write in a positive way.

Exercise 2:
Walk around with a rubber band around your wrist; as you notice negative self-talk, pull the band away from your skin and let it snap back. It’ll hurt a little, and serve as a slightly negative consequence that will both make you more aware of your thoughts, and help to stop them! (Or, if you don’t want to subject yourself to walking around with a rubber band on your wrist, you’ll be even more careful to limit the negative thoughts!)

Exercise 3:
While you conversing with your friends or colleagues, watch your words. How many times you are using negative statements. Note down in a small pocket diary on daily basis. Next time, when you are talking to somebody, be little more conscious. Change all the negative statements you used in the conversations into positive ones. You also tell yourself these positive statements.

Exercise 4:
Read inspirational and self development books. This will change your life.
Make it a practice to use positive self talk a habit. This will drive the message deep into your subconscious mind. Since the quality of your life is determined by how you feel moment to moment, you should make it a habit to only think and talk about what you want and keep your mind off of what you don’t want. ALL THE BEST.
