ATTITUDE DECIDES YOUR DESTINY I

ATTITUDE DECIDES YOUR DESTINY - I

A shoe marketing company selected a new sales person and sent him to a town to find out the possibility of marketing their shoes there. The new sales person went to the town. He found everybody was wearing ordinary footwears. He could not find a single person wearing shoes. He came to a conclusion that these people are not interested for shoes. It might be very difficult to introduce the shoes to them and make them wear. He gave a telegram to the company stating, ‘ No possibility of marketing shoes here. Returning back’.

The company sent a second person to the same town to find out the possibility of marketing their shoes. As soon as the second man entered the town, he started observing the people. None was wearing shoes. He exclaimed and jumped in happy mood. He realized that a wonderful opportunity is there. If properly marketed, he could make a sale of thirty thousand shoes in a year, he thought. He gave a telegram to the company stating, ‘Huge potential. Send thirty thousand pairs and a team’.

Same town and same people were looked differently by these two salespersons.

What is the basic difference in these two persons ? ATTITUDE.

It is the way you look at things. It is the way you look at the world, people and things. Depending upon your attitudes, your views differ from others. The control center of your life is your attitude.

What is ATTITUDE ?

We can define attitude as the feeling or opinion about something or someone, or a way of behaving that follows from this.

Our (mental) views of different people and things are organized into ideals, values, opinions, beliefs and sentiments. Our emotions are organized into feelings, attitudes and motives.

We choose how we feel about others and situations. We choose our opinion about people and situations. We choose the way we will behave in relation to other people and circumstances. We choose it. It doesn’t have to be bad. It doesn’t have to be anything but what we want it to be. We have the option.

The choice of a right attitude will significantly determine new circumstances. Choosing to have the right attitude will change the world around you. This isn’t any sort of magic; it is just how the world works. It will significantly improve the world you live in. For example, let’s say that every day you go into work and you gripe about life and work from the moment you get there until the moment you leave. Will others want to be around you? Will others ask your opinion? Will others like you? Will others ask you to join them for lunch? Probably not! But what if you come to work every day and you are the positive optimist of the crowd? Will everybody love you? No, but significantly more people will than if you are the office pessimist! But there will be a difference. Your choice of attitude will determine what kind of circumstances you get!

‘The greatest revolution of our generation is the discovery that human beings, by changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their lives’ quotes William James.

So an attitude is about the day's work, about Life in general, etc and it is something that you can choose what you will have. Now most people leave their attitudes to the tender mercies of circumstances that "this might happen", and that's liable to have you in any kind of an attitude except a desirable one unless now and then you meet some nice person. Frequently a person's attitude is very much determined by the last person they were talking to; and that doesn’t' easily adapt itself to having a very pleasant existence all day. So can you have about any kind of attitude you want?

The attitude decides about how your day goes. If you start off with a very pleasant attitude and your in charge of it and keep it that way, what kind of day do you have?

It is your attitude towards life that will determine life's attitude towards you.
It is your attitude at the beginning of a task more than anything else that will determine your success or failure.

Your attitude may be the single greatest contributor – or the biggest obstacle – to your success. Focus on developing and renewing a positive outlook

POSITIVE ATTITUDE BUILDERS :

1. LOOK FOR THE GOOD IN OTHERS

2. SEE PROBLEMS AS CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES

3. SAY ‘ I CAN ‘ MORE THAN ‘ I CAN’T ‘

4. EXPECT GOOD THINGS TO HAPPEN

5. CHOOSE POSITIVE THINKING FRIENDS

6. FIND THE GOOD IN ANY SITUATION

7. STOP WORRYING ! START LIVING !

8. LIVE HEALTHY LIFESTYLE

9. PICUTRE YOURSELF AS A WINNER

Everyone knows that a positive attitude is key to the successful life. But what happens when things go wrong? What happens when circumstances deal us a blow? We have a tendency to let our attitudes take the dive along with our state of affairs. Life deals us setbacks, both minor and major, on a regular basis, but if we are going to be successful, we need to know how to deal with them and keep our attitudes intact! We need practical tools to help us understand how we can go about keeping our attitude up, when the circumstances are down. Here are some thoughts to help us do so:

ü Focus on the goal only
ü Concentrate on solutions, not problems.
ü Don’t react immediately Take some time-out.
ü Get always some positive input.
ü Tell yourself the good.
ü Remember that circumstances are not forever.

You may be an executive, but without good attitude, you cannot be a good executive
You may be an employee, but without good attitude, you cannot be a good employee
You may be a student, but without good attitude, you cannot be a good student

You may be playing any role in your life, parent, teacher, businessman. You cannot be good in that role without having a good attitude.

The Choice is YOURS

With a Bad attitude
you can never have a positive day
With a Positive attitude
you can never have a bad day
The Choice is YOURS

MASTER YOUR MIND

MASTER YOUR MIND

A beggar was sitting outside a temple. He has been begging for more than ten years in the same place. He used to get around Rs.50/- per day. During festivals and special pooja days he used to get Rs.100/- per day. He was sitting on a mound of sand, which he felt, very comfortable. He was very much contended with whatever he was earning. But occasionally, he used to feel bad about his life. He has been seeing people coming in cars for dharshan to the temple and paying special entrance fees, to have dharshan. Realizing his position, he blamed his fate only.

One rainy day, while he was going to his regular place to start the day’s work, he saw a crowd near his place. He was very curious why people are crowding at his usual place. With great difficult, he had a look. He understood that an accident had happened and he saw the, which dashed against the mound of sand. He still had a closer look. Wow, plenty of gold jewels, gold coins, pearls, etc were scattered around. He could not believe his eyes. He doubted whether he is dreaming. He has never seen such a treasure in his life time. When he understood that all these treasures were kept in a box inside the mound of sand, where he was sitting, he fainted. It was a treasure box kept by ancestors many centuries ago near the temple and covered with a sand mound. Due to the accident, the box was damaged and the jewels were scattered. ‘Alas, was I begging for 50 paise and 1 rupee, sitting on this golden treasure ?’ he was murmuring.

In our real life also, we are begging for each and every thing, without knowing that we have genie inside to get you everything whatever you want. People fail to believe that they have such a power inside. It is the sub conscious mind. It is the ‘Akshaya Patra’.

How to tap the subconscious mind power for our success ?

Here are the five steps to conquer your subconscious mind:
1. Have a clear goal

Everybody must be having some dream about his life. Dreams should never remain as dreams. It should be fulfilled. Hence, have a clear goal what you want in your life and what you want to become. Without clear goals, all your efforts will become waste. Successful people had goals and worked towards that. When you have a clear goal, even some setbacks happens, you will continue your journey. That should be the power of your goal. If you do not have any goal and do something, you will stop trying, when you face some hurdles. Write your wishes and dreams daily, without referring earlier written goals. After a month or so, you can notice only certain dreams or wishes are repeated daily/often. They are the goals you have at present. Check up whether these goals are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time bound. Otherwise, it will not yield the expected results.

2. Visualize

Once you finalised your goals, take one goal at a time. Have mental images. Visualize in the morning while you are getting up or while going to bed at night, as if things have happened (as if you have reached your goals). Initially, your conscious mind may not accept this dream. Still, you visualize daily. Your sub conscious mind will grab the essence of the goal and lead you towards that.

3. Keep Motivating Posters

Keep motivating posters in your study room. If you have a dream of buying a house, keep a picture of a lovely house. If you have a goal of buying a car, keep a poster of a brand new car (you preferred to buy) in your bed room. If your aim to finish the engineering course or any other course in first class, keep a picture of a student getting an award/degree.

4. Be a positive personality

Check up your words. Are they positive ones ? Get feedback from your friends and relatives whether you are a positive person ? If something has to be changed in your attitude, change it to a positive one. Speak only positive words. Use positive words. Use often empowering words. By doing this, you will be attracting positive energy. This will help you to become a successful person.

5. Use positive affirmations

Affirmations are simple sentences in the present tense. Let these affirmations be positive ones. Use it frequently. When frequently used, told aloud, these affirmations, it will start influencing your sub conscious mind, which will change your actions, thinking and behaviour.

Affirmations have long been recognized as a powerful tool in manifesting desires. That's because the subconscious mind cannot differentiate between actual reality and suggestions. Therefore, it processes affirmations as being real -- and goes about using its powerful creative ability -- and that of the nervous system -- to actualize those affirmations

Affirmations are like doing physical therapy on your brain. Just like a physical therapist teaches your muscle to operate in a more functional way, affirmations teach your brain how to create and maintain more beneficial and supportive thoughts

Use all these five steps to conquer your subconscious mind and get whatever you want in your life. Have self confidence and feel that you deserve success. You will achieve.

Gratitude:

Gratitude, appreciation, or thankfulness, is an emotion, which involves a feeling of emotional indebtedness towards another person; often accompanied by a desire to thank them, or to reciprocate for a favour they have done for you.
Optimism:

Optimism is an outlook on life such that one maintains a view of the world as a positive place. It is the opposite of pessimism. Optimists generally believe that people and events are inherently good, so that most situations work out in the end for the best.
An optimist sees a half glass of water as half full, whereas the pessimist sees the glass as half empty.

Zest

Zest means surprising, outstanding or strong characteristics of people. For example, "She has a real zest for life!"
We can also say as vigorous and enthusiastic and enjoyment.

Curiosity:

Curiosity is an interest to learn, interest to know what is what. Curiosity is any natural inquisitive behaviour, to explore, to investigate and to learn.
Ability to love and to be loved:
Undoubtedly, the most important facet of the human experience is the ability to love. Not only the ability to love others - but also the ability to love ourselves.

Dependable
Are you a dependable person ? If I leave a job to you, can I sleep peacefully ? Organizations need dependable people, not responsibility evading people.

Hard working:
In interviews, candidates tell to the interviews they are hard workers. When recruited, are they showing in true sense ? It is a big question. Anyhow, if you are a hard working person, then, it is fine.
Expressive
Some people hesitate to tell something. They keep it inside. Some people cannot keep some secrets inside. If they feel something, they will definitely express it. Organizations need expressive people; then only, things will be known to all, corrections, improvements can be done.
Being a team player:
Do you play well with others? If you're a part of the working world, playing well with others means being a member of a team. It's a key part of nearly every job description.
At the very least, it means that you can get along in the workplace—that you have the social skills to have open, productive relationships with other workers so that collectively you can all get done what you need to get done, whether it's writing a research report, inventing a fresh sales presentation or just keeping a company running day to day.
On a deeper level, being a team player is about managing emotions and translating them into effective communication. And that can be a difficult task, depending on the work environment, your personality and the personalities of others on the team
Having an open mind:
Some have open mind, they are ready to receive ideas, new avenues, criticisms. They are prepared to listen and correct themselves.
Assessing Your Strengths
Attend some personality development programmes. Assess your strengths often.
Assessing Your Weaknesses
In the same way, you should also know how to assess your weaknesses. Get a feed back from your friends, colleagues, relatives and others. Analyse those honest feedbacks. You will understand what are your strengths.
You should know how to sell your strengths. Another important question asked in interviews is “What are you KRA ?” KRA means key result areas. Your KRA is based on your strengths only. Taking time to discover or confirm your key strengths and skills will empower you to make important decisions about your career
When you know your key strengths and skills you increase the number of opportunities that are available for you in a variety of sectors

KNOW YOUR KEY STRENGHTS II

KNOW YOUR KEY STRENGHTS II

In a SWOT analysis, we may have to list out the strengths. In every interview, there is a definite question about the strengths of candidate. Let us see some of the other strengths.

Being Polite

Some people attract others. If you analyse what is attracting others, we will find that politeness of such people may be one of the factors. In our day to day life, we may have to come across many difficult, tense situations. How we manage those situations ? Are we becoming the victims of situations ?

Patience

Some people do things in a hurry-burry manner. They suffer due to this. Some patiently do the things and win over all the situations. When we stand in a queue, do we have the patience, knowing pretty well the speed of the clerk attending the people. Are we able to accept the situations and adjust ? Patient people will do this

Good decision making

If you take the merits and demerits before taking any decision, you will gain a lot. Without analyzing anything, if you jump into something, then who will face the consequences. Hence good decision making is one of the good qualities to be appreciated.

Caring for others

This quality cannot be taught at any school. It should come from the family background. Parents are the role models first. In any given situation, if we care for others, others will care for us when really needed. This character is very much required in the present modern world. Most of the people are selfish. When they are selfish, they just don’t care for others. What they want, they just do, without bothering about the consequent causes for others.

Good planning

If you want to go for a picnic, you can’t simply start your journey to some tourist spot. A lot of planning is required. The distance from your place, journey time, places to be visited, booking the tickets to and fro, fixing the hotel accommodation, etc are to be planned. Then only the picnic can be enjoyed. Our life is more than a picnic. Good planning keeps you to have a cool head.

Good listening

We can call it as art of listening. Do we allow the other person to complete the conversation fully. Are we not jumping into some conclusion and interfere in the conversation. Due to this, we miss a lot. If we are unable to listen properly, we are creating a room for inter personal relation problems. Many divorce cases can be solved if the couples have this quality. For students, good listening will give more than 60 % of their input for studying.

Empathy

Normally we see from our angle and take decisions. We are not trained to see the other person’s view. If you are in other person’s shoes, then you can view something differently. If you start practicing this way, many problems can be prevented at the bud. “How the other person will feel”, “If I use these words, will it harm him ?” will be questions arising before you.

Forgiving

There were many negative instances happening in our lives. Are we carrying all these in our mind ? Then vengeance will develop. Then we may be concentrating only how to punish the other person, searching for a good opportunity. Then how can we develop ourselves. Hence, as advised by our forefathers, gurus, saints, we should develop the habit of forgiving. Scientifically, keeping vengeance inside the heart will produce only negative energy. Once you forgive, the negative energy producing factory is destroyed. You can attract positive energy towards you.

Humourous

Humourous people never have stress. They talk humourously and attract people. They can take the serious things very lightly. They can maintain good inter personal relations. Their presence will be lively to all. Hence, learn to talk humourously.
