LIFE IS WONDERFUL
Life is Wonderful.
When I say Life is Wonderful, do you agree ? All may not agree. We can’t expect all people to agree for this. People have different perceptions about life. Variety of people appear to be very unhappy about life. We come across many people who are vexed up with their life. Most of us are as happy as we make up our minds to be. We are as happy as we decide to be.
If you ask me whether I am really excited about life, a big YES. There is no doubt. Because, we can create the life we want. Whatever life we want to live, we can have it. We can create it. Can’t believe it ? You have to believe it. When it rains, some enjoy, some simply get wet. It is the same rain for everybody. It is the state of mind of the people whether to enjoy it or curse it. Being positive is a choice.
Some people feel that life is full of problems. They find it difficult to overcome the problems. When life throws you a curve, you take responsibility, deal with your stuff and get back to your peaceful place as quickly as possible. You will never learn anything in your life, if you lead a life where you meet no problems. You can never become an expert driver if you practice only on Highways. You have to learn to drive in small lanes and roads. Each problem will leave some message to you. We have to learn it from it, then it is an addition of knowledge to apply it in future. Sometimes, life throws us some challenges. How we deal with these challenges can positively or negatively impact your life. Success and satisfaction in life depend largely on the choices we make.
Why should we call problems as ‘problems’ ? Instead we can call it ‘challenges’.
Life is a bundle of results
Whatever status you are having today, whether happy or not, it is because of the efforts you have put forth in the past five years. Net result of your efforts are today’s position. If you are successful, your efforts brought positive expected results. If you are not successful, you are yet to learn from the failures and change your strategy.
You always imagined your life would be a certain way, but it has turned out quite differently. You may be well employed and financially sound, but you feel like something is missing. The life you lead may good by anyone else’s standards, but you have always held another dream. Can you give yourself permission to make the life transitions and choices that would take you closer to that dream? Once you do, you may be surprised to find that you already have the inner strength for handling life changes and living the life you want. When handling life challenges, you feel like you are pulled to different directions in life. Yet, you feel like doing something, you are obligated to do. Your mind is searching for something different.
What you actually want in your life ?
You must be clear what you actually want in your life ? Money, wealth, a luxury car, a three bed room apartment, good relationships, comfortable job ?. Living life on your own terms starts with being clear about what you want. And knowing what you want is largely defined by who you are. If you were to remove all the obligations, people and things around you, who would you be? What are your core beliefs and values? What do you love doing?
As a young child, family defines us. Parents tell us what to do; siblings tell us what we’re like. And for young children exposed to media, outsiders also tell us what to think. With time, most people screen that external input, internalize some and develop their own ideas and self-concept. Teens experience that external-internal struggle often, balancing between pleasing others and being their own person. By adulthood, most people are clear on their preferences and goals, dreams and desires. If you aren’t clear, or if you find that your desires and beliefs have changed across time, ask yourself some key questions:
• What are five words that describe your values, beliefs and priorities?
• How do you see yourself living out those values, beliefs and priorities?
• What, if anything, needs to change so that your life fully reflects who you are?•
After you define yourself – your beliefs, values and priorities – compare the life you are leading what your heart is telling you to do. Are they closely aligned? Or do you feel like you left your true self behind sometime ago, and now you’re wondering what happened?
Is it too late to go back and retrieve those dreams? No, it isn’t.
Can you live life more closely to what you once imagined? Yes, you can.
Clarify your goals
First, clarify your values, beliefs, goals and priorities.
Next: Grant yourself permission to pursue your heart’s desire. Ask:
What are the “should”, “have to” or “ought to” statements about how you live that you’ve taken on from others?
Which of those statements should you keep? Which do you need to discard? Separate them carefully, keeping those that are legitimate (sometimes obligations – like caring for ill parents - are part of life’s journey) and discarding those that are not authentically you or fully necessary.
What commitment are you willing to make to yourself? Promise yourself that you will honor your interests, preferences, priorities, values and dreams and pursue them, to the extent you are able. Hold your personal vision close, and let that be your guide. Prefer to be around people who are happy and excited about life.
Let us lead the life we want; Let us take the right direction in our life to fulfill our dreams.
